The effects of Wanda’s unresolved childhood trauma forces a tsunami of events to take place in the her family. This leaves her husband, Malcolm, as the primary caretaker of two children, one of which has a disability. Traditional and nontraditional therapy becomes the epicenter of their daily life. The result of the therapy visits, sessions and appointments becomes the breath of fresh air that connects them with others outside of their family and enables their individual healing journeys to take place. There are things that root from childhood that affect the way that we parent our kids and how we show up in relationship. Connections with others can be made outside of family and traditional ways. Domestic violence is as equally a problem for men as it is for women. Having a child with disabilities is a heavy responsibility and can cause added friction and turbulence to families. Having a child with special needs will put more stress on a marriage than one thinks. Surveys show that the rate of divorce in families with a child with disabilities may be as high as 87%. The divorce rate in families with a child with autism is about 80%. This show will bring all the aspects of real family problems together in an entertaining fashion while maintaining the integrity of the focal points of therapy, autism, domestic violence and the many varieties of parenting.
