A quiet and calm lake. Intense rays of sun. Serenity. Suddenly, a buzz. A phone alarm sings its anthem, begging for the attention of its owner. The man grabs it, scrolling away on his device. Another man is slowly sucked into the allure of his phone. Soon, a third. The three share a meal together, eyes cast down at their devices. Though, they seem happy. Blissful. Trapped in a secure world, free from what is on the outside. Calling. Faucets run as water wastes away. A warning - “No Swimming, Keep Out.” Water continues to pour from the faucets. Time slowly wastes away, but quickly, the passing of time becomes meaningless. Images of pollution flash by, but the men keep to themselves. Their phones interrupt their daily routines, a comfort mechanism. The 3 men are blissfully unaware of the world outside. Their devices continue to draw their eyes away. The faucets become like exhaust. The shadow of their negligence casts a gloom over their future. The damage has been done, there is no going back.
