Apple core is about Papa, a lonely, grumpy widower who has given up on his desire as an artist to paint since his wife's death. He looks after his granddaughter from time to time while her mother works. She comes over this time on his marriage anniversary and while he watches her paint it rekindles the thought of him painting once again. In order to do this he must first overcome a tremendous guilt that is haunting him.
