'Room for Dessert' explores systemic injustice and racism through the eyes of a well-bred, professional Black man who has been pushed to his breaking point. The story gives a glimpse, through a hypothetical scenario of a need for revenge versus a cry for justice. At a critical moment, when he decides to take action into his own hands, he meets a woman and her father. Through this exchange, wisdom and counsel are offered for an alternative perspective on Black manhood and fatherhood. The man's explanation of his actions gives an up-close-and-personal view of the daily trauma, terror, grief, and pain of Black men across the country.
